Lamb

I found some lamb in a supermarket the other day on my way home from work, and had a moment of excitement and joy. Lamb! It's so hard to find lamb here. Great, I thought, I'll have lamb for dinner.

Then I saw the price.

100 grams for 1000 yen.

(For my American readers, that's 0.220462262 pounds for 9.21022 USD.)

I had spaghetti for dinner.

Here in Hokkaido it's not so pricey, "gingiskhan" is the famous local dish after all...

I'm sure I've seen it cheaper here, too, although not recently in the supermarkets. But I quite often go to a Persian restaurant where they serve lamb, and it's not expensive. I have no idea why this particular lamb was so expensive - or who would be silly enough to pay that much for it.

Funny you should mention it- I love lamb but never buy it, until last week they had a special at my supermarket - $1.99/lb. I'll pack some on dry-ice and FedEx it to ya.
